Henna Heaven 🧿❤️💫

We had the pleasure of creating a magical wedding weekend at Maxx Royal Bodrum for a Dubai-based couple and their 400 guests. 

Kick-starting their wedding celebrations with a ‘Welcome party/ henna night’, we looked to their İraqi-Kurdish and Iranian heritage for decor inspiration. 

We hand-painted our own versions of colourful Suzani rugs and Persian textiles and combined the intricate patterns with traditional Turkish touches like evil eyes, ‘ikat’ fabric, and lots and lots of colourful bougainvillea to create our very own fantasy Turkish village square, complete with a market place, water fountain, street musicians and live food kiosks :)

After her joyous entrance procession and a traditional henna ceremony, our beautiful bride-to-be was joined by the groom and his friends, who arrived with a 'davul zurna' of pounding drums as Kurdish stars Romi Harki and Nevin Hawramy drove guests into a belly-dancing frenzy.

Throughout the night, guests feasted on mouthwatering Turkish, Iranian and Kurdish treats, had their hands painted by henna artists and had their fortunes read by local mystics before taking to the dance floor for a show-stopping performance from Persian pop superstar Arash.
