'Paris c'est l'amour' wedding

For their November destination wedding, our couple chose the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris - the former art school of many of France's finest artists and one of Paris's finest fin de siecle buildings.

We created an opulent dreamland of rich velvets, satins, Persian carpets and

leopardskin, with flowers and foliage by Marianne Guedin inspired by the elegant abundance of belle époque winter gardens.

Seen here, the venue before decoration.

My painting for the invitation was done in the style of Marc Chagall, showing the couple embracing as they float above the rooftops of Paris.

My visual for the wedding decor was really important: the colour combinations for carpets, walls and soft furnishings were hard to envisage so having a visual guide helped greatly.

Guests were given table number cards in the shape of miniature paintings on easels, in a nod to the building's historic past.

We built the bar and shelving from scratch and then accessorised it with real antique lamps and candle holders to give an authentic feel.

The trees, plants and flowers designed and installed by Marianne Guedin created a breathtaking backdrop to the seating areas and really created a sense of Victorian winter garden opulence and abundance.

A close up of the custom candleholders that I designed to hold candles beneath huge dramatic sprays of palm leaves.
